Anglers on Wheels

Anglers On Wheels is an annual, wheelchair accessible, fishing trip in Port Aransas, Texas. This event is held in May, the weekend after Mother's Day, for fishermen with disabilities, their friends and family members.

12th Annual Anglers on Wheels 2008
May 17th & 18th

The event includes a free barbecue get-together on Saturday night at Robert's Point Park Pavilion (near the city docks) and a free 4 hour fishing trip on The Island Queen II fishing boat, moored at Woody's Sport Center.

The 65 foot boat is a converted ferry that is completely wheelchair accessible and covered to keep off the hot Texas sun. The boat also has bathroom facilities and an upper deck. Bait, tackle, and deck hands are available to help you, free of charge.

Port Aransas Emergency Medical Technicians are on board each trip.

There are 2 trips to choose from:
Saturday 1pm to 5pm or
Sunday 8am to noon

You are welcome to bring your own tackle and ice box on board. Space is limited, so groups on the boat are restricted to 5 members or less. Fishermen are responsible for their own transportation and overnight accommodations.

Texas Parks and Wildlife provides free fishing licenses for event participants.

An extra bonus, Anglers On Wheels' families can go on a Dolphin Watch Bay Tour (for free) on a new boat named "The Mustang". This extra boat trip is a nature tour, not a seperate fishing trip. Families wishing to see dolphins and other marine life up close need to schedule a trip with Woody's Sport Center: 1.361.749.5252.
